Object: Details

There are two ways to create a new archaeological object:

  1. From the list of objects in Dashboard.
  2. From the Drive section in any of your own folders.

How to fill in the object details?

  1. First, enter the name of your find and hit ‘Create’.

  2. Once the new object is created you will see the object record form. Check the Drive folder it is saved in and move it to a different folder if needed via Path in Drive.

    This path can be changed only by the object owner. If you created a new object via Dashboard it will be saved in your Drive root folder by default. If you hit “Create object” from one of your Drive folders, that is where it is saved.
  3. Select type, group and category for your object.    

    Check Object types, groups and categories to get more details on their definitions and relationships and how to select the matching ones.
  4. Add a free-form text description of the object:    

  5. Select the most accurate historical period from the list. Some historical eras are divided into several periods. In this case, you can choose either one of the periods or the era if you do not have more accurate data.

  6. Add the date or date range of the archaeological object if it has been determined. 

    You can select year, century or millenium format and select the era as well:

  7. Use the field "Culture" to add the info on culture or people associated with the find. You can add multiple items separated by commas:

  8. Select the material from which it was made / consists of if applicable:

  9. Select from the list techniques that were used to make the find if applicable:

  10. Fill in the fields with sizes if it is relevant and you have such information. Remember to select the correct measurement unit as well: 

    Save the changes before proceeding to the next tab - Findspot and Storage.
