How to upload render-ready data?

Render-ready refers to the data that does not require additional processing for visualization. These can be raster or vector maps, orthomosaics, 3D models or images and photos .

If you want to upload a photogrammetry dataset to build a 3D model or orthomosaic, or have georadar data and want to create a point cloud, read the article How to upload data for processing.
  1. Go to Drive https://rootscout.com/drive.

  2. Click “Create” from any of your folders in the “My Drive” section.

  3. Select “Upload data” from the dropdown menu.

  4. In the first step “Choose data type” proceed with “Upload render-ready data” and select from the suggested data type those you want to upload. You can select either one, some or all five at a time.

For ease of use, we recommend that you do not download a large number of files at once. This will complicate the download process. Also, the recommended size of the simultaneously downloaded data is no more than 1GB.

  5. Select and add files. You can simply drag and drop files into the appropriate areas, or click “Browse” and select them using your file system navigation.

  6. Each data format has its own validation. You will always see an explanation why the dataset failed verification. Dataset can be a single file or multiple file combination. In case the whole dataset is invalid due to the validation of one of the files from combination, it will not be uploaded as whole.

  7. By default, the files are uploaded into the folder you clicked "Upload data" from. To change it before the upload has started, click on the arrow next to "Upload to..." and select a different folder. Don't worry, the data can be moved around at any time from your Drive.

You can only upload data to your own folders. Uploaded data can be then transferred to the folders that are shared with you, though please mind that transferring data will automatically mean transferring data ownership to the folder owner.

  8. Once you have it all set click “Upload”.

  9. The uploading process has started. Do not close your browser until it is complete, otherwise the process will be interrupted. You can minimize the window instead and continue using the platform meanwhile.

  10. As data is uploaded, it will appear in the selected Folder of your Drive. Once the uploading process of all files is complete, you will see the updated status and can close the window and view them in the Drive folder.

  11. To have them displayed there immediately, refresh the page after the upload is successfully completed.
